Our code of conduct

This is currently under development and updating. The current code of conduct is shown below:


As a member of Musselburgh Amateur Swimming Club I understand that I must:

  • Swim for my own enjoyment and to improve my skills
  • Listen and follow instructions given by any coach and comply without argument and backchat.
  • Ask if I don’t understand something
  • Behave well. This behaviour, including language, will not upset or embarrass anyone (inc other swimmers, coaches, parents, other clubs or members of the general public)
  • Show respect for coaches and parents (treat others as I would like to be treated – fairly)
  • Be friendly and loyal to my team members
  • Have a good attitude, set a good example and put every effort into my training and
  • Be ready and on poolside 15 minutes before each session to stretch)
  • Have my inhaler with me on poolside if I require it
  • Tell my coach if I have an injury
  • Respect other swimmers in my lane. Give way to swimmers who need to overtake and refrain
    from aggressive physical contact. (eg pulling, scratching etc) Do not pull on lane ropes
  • Have my poolside equipment for every session (see Training Kit Requirements document in
    Team App)
  • Respect the changing facilities and leave them tidy
  • Wear my club colours which are blue and yellow. I should be recognisable as MASC swimmer
    when representing the club especially during team competitions by wearing the club ‘uniform’.
    That is, dark blue costumes, a MASC cap and a yellow pool top
